How to Spend a Perfect Weekend in Metro Detroit (Coffee Included)

    · 7 min read

Metro Detroit is a sprawling, diverse region with distinct neighborhoods that feel like entirely different cities. A weekend here can take you from the historic streets of Corktown to the lakeside charm of Grosse Pointe, with great coffee at every stop. Here's how we'd spend it.

Saturday Morning — Corktown: Start at our Michigan Avenue café. Order a Vanilla Bourbon Latte and grab a seat upstairs — the morning light and the quirky décor (yes, including the moose head) set the tone for a great day. After coffee, walk to Michigan Central Station and explore the surrounding blocks. The murals, the architecture, and the neighborhood energy make this one of the most photogenic walks in Detroit.

Saturday Afternoon — Downtown Detroit: From Corktown, it's a short drive or a 20-minute walk to downtown. Hit the Riverwalk along the Detroit River, wander through Campus Martius, and browse the shops along Woodward. For lunch, there are dozens of options in the Greektown and Capitol Park areas.

Saturday Evening — Royal Oak: Head north to Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak for dinner. The restaurant scene here is one of the best in Oakland County, with everything from craft cocktail bars to neighborhood pizzerias. After dinner, walk the strip and take in the nightlife — Royal Oak stays busy well into the evening.

Sunday Morning — Birmingham: Wake up and drive to our Birmingham location at 1728 West Maple. The Sunday morning crowd is mellow, the lattes are dialed in, and the neighborhood is beautiful for a post-coffee walk. Stroll through downtown Birmingham's boutiques and galleries, then grab brunch at one of the spots along Old Woodward.

Sunday Afternoon — Grosse Pointe: End the weekend at our Kercheval Avenue café in the Village. Order a matcha latte or an iced Americano, then explore the Village's charming shops and tree-lined streets. If the weather is nice, drive down to the waterfront — Lake St. Clair is stunning in the afternoon light, and it's the perfect way to close out a Metro Detroit weekend.

Four neighborhoods, four Lucky Detroit locations, and the full range of what makes this region special. Metro Detroit isn't one thing — it's a collection of communities, each with its own character. And at every one, there's a great cup of coffee waiting for you.
